House Sports Events
Kyle Wheaton jumps clear to win the Senior hurdles event for Shaftesbury House at the start of our Sports Day which this year was held on a rare warm and sunny day! With an array of stars on show, including three Somerset County Champions and one National Champion, all pupils were inspired to raise their game and perform extremely well. As a consequence many excellent contests prevailed and an extremely competitive afternoon unfolded.
Our four House Sports Captains had selected their teams and from the very first event it became apparent that Lucy Whitfield and Harrison Hollins had picked their Livingstone team with particular care and precision. Livingstone established an early lead and were never overtaken, ending the day as this year's Champions.
A total of 8 school records were broken. The new record holders are:
Year 7&8 Boys 800m James Bridge (photographed above)
Year 7&8 Boys 1500m James Bridge
Year 9+ Girls 75m Hurdles Isabella Foot
Year 9+ Girls Long Jump Isabella Foot
Year 9+ Boys 800m Philip Bridge

Girls Open Triple Jump Emma Denham (Year 8)
Olive Holliday bags more points for Livingstone by winning the relay for her House.
A few days later our pupils competed in our Annual Swimming Gala. In stark contrast to Sports Day the weather had turned cold, and wet as can be seen below. It was therefore hardly surprising that not a single school record was broken.
However there were some very closely contested races and all pupils should be congratulated on braving the cold and producing such an exciting competition. A special mention should be made of the Junior pupils who this year for the first time joined the Seniors' house teams.
Their contributions led to many changes in the fortunes of each house in the course of the morning. Finally in spite of the rain all races were completed and a rush was made for the warmth of the showers. The team results will be announced at the Final Assembly of the year.
